Managing Manufacturing to Support a Diverse Product Line
I am involved in the production department at our packaging factory, handling the manufacturing of tea bags, loose-leaf teas, nori, and gift products. My responsibilities extend beyond daily production work to include proposing and preparing for new production equipment, recruiting and managing staff, and maintaining machinery. A dynamic and diverse production environment requires flexible, comprehensive decision-making.
The Satisfaction When Products Reach Store Shelves
Whether working with major companies or new clients, there is an indescribable joy and sense of accomplishment when I see our products on store shelves. Even on the production floor, I feel the responsibility of being the “first bearer” of products that reach the market. In carrying out my work, I always consider both the “best” and “worst” scenarios for every project, and I make sure to communicate regularly through reports, updates, and consultations. Sticking to these fundamentals ultimately protects the team.
Seeing Change Through My Proposals
One particularly memorable experience was seeing a new production line installed thanks to my proposal. By raising suggestions from a bottom-up perspective, the new equipment was adopted, improving production efficiency and reducing staff workload. When I noticed my colleagues smiling and working more comfortably, I deeply felt the significance of my role.
Choosing a Path of Stability
I was drawn to Harada Tea because I wanted a stable company where I could work long-term, especially as I considered marriage. Although I had no prior manufacturing experience and came from the foodservice industry, I am now in my 19th year at the company, working as a manager and collaborating with many people.
Leveraging Customer Service Experience to Build Relationships
Before joining Harada Tea, I had frequent interactions with people at my family’s restaurant. That experience has been invaluable for communication on the production floor. Even as a mid-career hire, I was able to talk to various colleagues without hesitation. Today, I continue to prioritize daily dialogue to maintain an open and approachable workplace.
Leading a Team of 170 Towards the Future
My goal is to create an environment where people can communicate effectively, ensuring that Harada Tea can continue producing high-quality products for years to come. No matter how advanced a system is, it is ultimately people who make it work. That is why I focus on nurturing each individual’s skills and fostering a self-motivated, collaborative organization.
A Workplace Where Even Inexperienced Employees Can Thrive
I joined the company mid-career, transitioning from the foodservice industry to manufacturing. I started knowing very little, but thanks to the support of my supervisors and colleagues, I’ve been able to continue growing here. Today, many mid-career employees—both men and women—work together, supporting and inspiring each other. Even if you have no manufacturing experience, you can join with confidence. I look forward to working with you.
